Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

What is polished concrete?

Polished concrete is your existing slab ground smooth with progressively finer diamond tooling, then densified and sealed. The result is a hard, glossy floor that's easy to clean and won't peel like paint or a coating. No new flooring goes on top, we refine the concrete you already have.

How much does concrete polishing cost in Kamloops?

It depends on a few things: the size of the floor, the condition of your slab, how much grinding and repair it needs, and the finish you choose. Every floor is different, so we don't post a one-size price that wouldn't be honest. The best way to get a real number is a free on-site quote. We'll look at your slab, talk through your options, and give you a clear price with no pressure.

How long does a polished concrete floor last?

Done right, a polished concrete floor can last for decades. It's the slab itself, hardened and sealed, so there's nothing to peel or wear through like a coating. A quick re-polish or re-seal every several years keeps the shine up, and that's about all the upkeep it needs.

Is polished concrete slippery?

Not as much as people expect. A polished floor is no more slippery than tile when it's dry, and we can add a non-slip additive to the sealer for garages, entries, or commercial floors where water gets tracked in. Tell us how the space gets used and we'll match the finish to it.

Can you polish an old or stained garage slab?

Usually, yes. We grind off old paint, sealer, oil staining, and surface damage to reveal fresh concrete underneath. Older Kamloops garage and shop slabs often clean up far better than people think. If the slab has deeper issues we'll tell you straight after we see it.

What's the difference between polished concrete and an epoxy or polyaspartic coating?

Polishing refines the actual slab into a glossy surface with nothing applied on top, so it can't peel. A coating like epoxy or polyaspartic adds a colour layer on the surface, great for garages and shops that want flake or a specific colour. We do both and will tell you which suits your floor and how you use it.

How much dust does grinding create?

Almost none. We run dust-free grinding systems with HEPA vacuums hooked straight to the equipment, so the fine silica dust gets captured at the source. It keeps your home or business clean and is far safer than old-school dry grinding.

Do you work in winter?

Yes. Most of our work is indoors, garages, basements, shops, and commercial spaces, so Kamloops winters aren't a problem. Some coatings need a minimum slab temperature to cure, and we plan around that. Just give us a call and we'll sort out timing.
